Court Sentences Actor Bae Sung-woo to 7 Million Won Fine for Drunk Driving Actor Bae Sung-woo

[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Daehyun] Actor Bae Sung-woo (49), who was caught driving under the influence, has been sentenced to a fine.


According to the legal community on the 16th, Judge Choi Ji-kyung of the Seoul Central District Court Criminal Division 28 issued a summary order on the 10th, imposing a fine of 7 million won on Bae, who was summarily indicted for DUI under the Road Traffic Act. A summary order is a disposition that imposes a fine or penalty without holding a formal trial, based only on document review.


Last November, Bae was caught in a DUI crackdown after drinking with an acquaintance in Sinsa-dong, Gangnam-gu, Seoul. At that time, his blood alcohol concentration was above 0.08%, which is the level for license cancellation.


Earlier, on the 6th, the prosecution summarily indicted Bae for DUI under the Road Traffic Act with a fine of 7 million won.


Bae debuted in 1999 with the musical "Manyeosanyang" and appeared in films such as "Anshiseong," "The King," and "Beasts Clawing at Straws," as well as the drama "Live." After the DUI incident became known, Bae withdrew from the SBS drama "Fly, Gaechwonyong," in which he was appearing.
