[Asia Economy Reporter Lee Ji-eun] The Blue House announced on the 15th that President Moon Jae-in will receive a briefing on the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport's core tasks on the afternoon of the 16th.


In this briefing, conducted via video conference between the Blue House and the Sejong Government Complex, the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport is expected to present this year's core tasks based on the theme of 'Recovery, Inclusion, and Leap Forward.' The ministry's four major core tasks are ▲realizing inclusive housing stability through housing innovation ▲national balanced development where local areas and the metropolitan area can coexist ▲innovation in the land and transportation industry for a leading economic leap ▲a project to protect citizens' lives at land and transportation sites.


According to a Blue House official, this briefing is also expected to include follow-up measures to the related law amendments following the February 4th real estate measures. Previously, the government held a meeting chaired by Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Economy and Finance Hong Nam-ki to discuss follow-up measures to the February 4th measures.


After the briefing, a discussion with external experts on livelihood stabilization and industrial innovation will follow. During the discussion, opinions will be presented by Park Hyun-gi, Innovation Strategy Officer of Hamyang-gun, Gyeongnam Province (a successful case of revitalizing the local economy), Professor Jeong Seong-bong of Seoul National University of Science and Technology (the necessity of activating metropolitan railroad networks in local areas and future plans for expanding local transportation infrastructure), Kim Beom-jun, Executive Director of the Korea Integrated Logistics Association (industry expectations on logistics industry advancement and job policies), and Professor Lee Je-seon, President of the Korean Urban Design Association (effects of expanding housing supply through systematic urban planning).


Im Se-eun, Deputy Spokesperson of the Blue House, stated, "Over the past four years, the government has achieved results that contributed to enhancing economic vitality, innovating the land and transportation industry, improving transportation convenience, and advancing housing welfare," adding, "We will reflect on the problems that occurred during the process of achieving these results and continue efforts to improve them."
