Emart24 Sees Sales Jump During Seol Holiday... Ready-to-Eat Food Up 48%

Emart24 Sees Sales Jump During Seol Holiday... Ready-to-Eat Food Up 48% Peacock meal kit products sold by Emart24.

[Asia Economy Reporter Lim Chunhan] Emart24 announced that during the Lunar New Year holiday period, sales of refrigerated and frozen convenience foods increased by 48% compared to the previous week, seasonings by 45%, and major ingredients (vegetables, tofu, bean sprouts, eggs) by 34%. Alcohol sales also rose, with liquor up 61%, traditional Korean liquor 59%, beer 32%, soju 26%, and wine 23%.

In particular, Peacock products gained popularity. Meal kits such as Uijeongbu-style Budae Jjigae and beef chuck flap steak, frozen convenience foods like grilled tteokgalbi and Soonhee's Bindaetteok, and refrigerated convenience foods including Johnsonville Budae Jjigae and Our Home Soft Tofu Stew recorded high sales.

An Emart24 official stated, "As more people spend Lunar New Year at home instead of returning to their hometowns, purchases of convenient foods and ingredients to prepare meals and snacks at nearby convenience stores have significantly increased. Convenience stores are increasingly recognized as accessible places to buy easy meals, leading to continued visits from customers seeking meal and snack products."
