Samsung Engineering Wins 140 Billion Won Project in Thailand

Olefin Plant Renovation Contract

[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Heung-soon] Samsung Engineering has secured its first order of the year, winning a 140 billion KRW-scale 'Olefin Plant Revamp Project (OMP)' in Thailand.

On the 15th, Samsung Engineering announced that it signed the OMP contract with Thai petrochemical company PTT GC on the 10th via an online non-face-to-face method. This project involves revamping the olefin plant within the Map Ta Phut Industrial Estate in Rayong City, located about 150 km southeast of Bangkok, the capital of Thailand, with a project cost reaching 140 billion KRW. Facilities such as the propane-propylene separation distillation tower will be newly installed, and existing facilities will be revamped.

Samsung Engineering will independently carry out the engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) aspects, installing new facilities like the propane-propylene separation distillation tower and revamping existing ones. The project is targeted for completion in 2023.

PTT GC is a subsidiary of the state-owned oil company PTT and oversees petrochemical projects commissioned by the Thai government. Samsung Engineering is currently executing two of PTT GC’s plants: the Olefin Project (ORP) and the Propylene Oxide Project (PO).

A Samsung Engineering official stated, "We have successfully carried out numerous projects in Thailand," adding, "Through differentiated experience and know-how, we will perfectly complete this project within the designated schedule and continue our reputation in Thailand."
