[Asia Economy Reporter Onyu Lim] On the 14th, the Seoul Metropolitan Government announced that it will commission a basic planning service for the development of 165,000㎡ around the Eunpyeong Public Garage.
The city plans to foster an industrial support space in this area linked with Sangam DMC, Susaek Station area, and Hang-dong District in Goyang, Gyeonggi Province. To this end, the Eunpyeong Public Garage area will be redeveloped from underutilized and outdated facilities, and through rational land use planning, it will be developed as a new hub axis connecting Goyang City's digital media industry and Sangam DMC.
The Eunpyeong Public Garage area is adjacent to DMC Station, Susaek Station, Hwajeon Station, Susaek-ro, and Jayu-ro, making it a region with excellent metropolitan transportation accessibility; however, it has faced difficulties in fulfilling its potential role as a gateway to Seoul. Additionally, revitalization linked with surrounding developments is needed at this time.
Accordingly, from the basic planning stage, the city decided to collaborate with the neighboring Goyang City to find ways to revitalize the economy of the northwestern region of Seoul.
Companies wishing to participate can refer to the bidding announcement and submit proposals and required documents to the Seoul Metropolitan Government's Northwest Area Project Division. The final company will be selected through a review by an evaluation committee composed of experts.
Kim Sang-han, Director of the Seoul Metropolitan Government's Regional Development Headquarters, said, "This area is a gateway to Seoul but has become outdated," adding, "We will concretize a customized regional hub development strategy through the basic planning service."
