[Asia Economy Reporter Hana Na] A toilet used by Nazi dictator Adolf Hitler during his lifetime was sold at auction for over 20 million won.

The American auction company Alexander Historical Auction announced on the 8th (local time) that Hitler's toilet was sold for $18,750 (approximately 20.7 million won) at an auction held in Maryland.

This toilet is made of wood and is valued highly due to its historical significance as having been used by Hitler. It was discovered at the Berghof, Hitler's alpine residence located on the slopes of the Alps. Hitler began living there with his lover Eva Braun from 1936 and stayed there throughout World War II.

However, Hitler's residence was seized by the Allied forces during World War II. U.S. Army liaison officer Ragvald C. Bosch visited the site with French troops and, under orders from his superior to "take whatever you want from the residence," took the toilet. He then sent it to his home in New Jersey. The toilet was stored in the basement there until recently, when it was put up for auction through Bosch's son.

Local media reported, "During World War II, Hitler probably sat on this toilet planning to conquer the world," adding, "The auction started at $5,000 and the final bid soared, but the identity of the buyer cannot be disclosed."
