[Asia Economy Reporter Lim Juhyung] Jo Eun-hee, Mayor of Seocho District in Seoul and a candidate who advanced to the main race for the Seoul mayoral by-election from the People Power Party, criticized some ruling party candidates' campaign appearances, saying, "Does the coronavirus only spare Democratic Party figures?"

On the 5th, Jo posted on her Facebook, "Many people are angry after seeing the photo of candidate Woo Sang-ho announcing the Line 1 underground plan at Sindorim Station yesterday," adding, "When Lee Nak-yeon, Park Young-sun, and Woo Sang-ho visited Namdaemun Market, it looked like a poster from the gangster movie 'Nameless Gangster: Rules of the Time.'"

Jo also said, "Many citizens were outraged after seeing the Democratic Party figures' 'fish cake mukbang' scene and asked whether it violated the quarantine rule banning gatherings of five or more," criticizing, "The Ministry of Health and Welfare and Seoul City only gave parrot-like responses that it was official business or that traditional markets were not included in the gathering ban and business restriction facilities."

Woo Sang-ho, a member of the Democratic Party who declared his candidacy for the Seoul mayoral by-election, previously took photos with attendees at the 'Line 1 above-ground section undergrounding' policy announcement held near Sindorim Station in Guro District, Seoul, on the 4th.

At that time, Woo and the attendees crossed their hands in an X shape and held hands for a commemorative photo, which sparked controversy over whether it violated quarantine rules.

On the 23rd of last month, there was also a so-called 'fish cake mukbang' controversy. On that day, former Minister of SMEs and Startups Park Young-sun, Woo, and Democratic Party leader Lee Nak-yeon visited Namdaemun Market, met with merchants, and ate fish cakes. However, the number of visitors exceeded five, and additional crowds gathered, raising concerns about violating quarantine rules.

Regarding this, Mayor Jo said, "Candidates Park Young-sun and Woo Sang-ho must answer. Ordinary citizens and self-employed people are fined for violating the ban on gatherings of five or more," sarcastically criticizing, "Is the coronavirus only sparing Democratic Party figures because it is the 'Moon Jae-in possession party'?"

She continued, "Is gathering in groups in alleyways the way to overcome coronavirus and the Democratic Party-style K-quarantine?" and condemned the behavior.
