Gyeongnam Province Aims to Secure 6.9575 Trillion Won in National Budget Next Year with a Strategy to Capture Both Quantity and Quality

On the 5th, Monthly Strategy Meeting for February Held to Discuss Next Year's National Budget Securing Strategy

Gyeongnam Province Aims to Secure 6.9575 Trillion Won in National Budget Next Year with a Strategy to Capture Both Quantity and Quality Kim Kyung-soo, Governor of Gyeongnam Province.

[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Park Saeyan] On the 5th, Gyeongsangnam-do held the 'February Monthly Strategy Meeting' and emphasized securing next year's national budget at 6.9575 trillion won, an increase of 393.8 billion won compared to this year.

Governor Kim Kyung-soo stressed the need for a strategy that "captures both quantity and quality" by making every effort to secure next year's national budget and optimizing local government expenditure burdens.

Regarding government public offering projects, Governor Kim stated, "It is difficult to continue the trend of increasing the national budget while continuously issuing local bonds," and emphasized that through reviewing project implementation methods, "we must consider both increasing the national budget scale and improving the efficiency of local government expenditure burdens."

He added, "As economic recovery takes place, stable fiscal management is also important, so preparations must begin now."

The meeting also discussed strategies for promoting new projects linked to major policy directions.

From January to March, additional Gyeongnam-type New Deal projects and ministry public offering projects will be identified, and monthly reporting meetings will be held to monitor the progress of national budget acquisition.

From April to August, focused visits to government ministries and the Ministry of Economy and Finance will be conducted to ensure that key projects are reflected as much as possible in the government budget proposal. For projects not included in the government budget proposal, a cooperative system with local members of the National Assembly will be established to ultimately ensure their inclusion in the government budget.

Regarding the submission of the Gadeok New Airport Special Act to the National Assembly, it was pointed out that "While the special act for Gadeok New Airport is important, it is much more significant and a bigger task to foster high value-added logistics processing industries together for establishing a Northeast Asia logistics hub," emphasizing the need to work not only for the passage of the bill but also for follow-up measures.

Due to the extended social distancing measures, the meeting was held as a video conference distributed across seven locations, including the Western Government Complex and various affiliated institutions, similar to last month.
