According to Gwangju Metropolitan City as of 2 p.m. on the 5th, six locally transmitted cases were confirmed, classified as cases number 1,872 to 1,877.
Among them, cases 1,872, 1,873, and 1,875 were confirmed to be related to Jeonnam case number 738, which has recently seen a rapid spread. The infection route of Jeonnam case 738, confirmed on the 27th of last month, has not yet been identified. There are a total of 15 related confirmed cases.
Regarding Gwangju case number 1,847, confirmed on the 3rd, two additional cases (1,876 and 1,877) were added, increasing the total to four.
Case number 1,874 was confirmed to be related to Gwangju Antioch Church. Including 15 cases from Kkum-i-itneun Church, the total number of confirmed cases related to Antioch Church is 124.
Gwangju City has filed charges against the pastor of Antioch Church under Article 18 of the Infectious Disease Prevention and Control Act.
Case number 1,852, confirmed on the 3rd, was identified as a user of Sujeong Sauna. Following contact tracing, a total of six people (five users and one family member) were confirmed positive. Comprehensive testing was conducted on 57 people, with three awaiting test results.
The quarantine authorities are making every effort to identify users by sending disaster alert messages related to Sujeong Sauna and will begin on-site risk assessments starting today.
Meanwhile, the 19th death in the Gwangju area (case number 1,857) occurred on this day. The deceased was a resident of Hyojeong Nursing Hospital, confirmed positive on the 3rd, and passed away at 7 a.m. today. According to COVID-19 funeral guidelines, cremation will be conducted before the funeral.
