[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Park Saeyan] Gyeongsangnam-do announced on the 5th that it will pursue two directions of direct and indirect support for workers in the culture, tourism, and transportation industries and small business owners who have been excluded from government support.
The criteria for direct and indirect support are the blind spots that have suffered severe sales losses but have been excluded from government support so far, and support for the recovery of the local economy.
The total scale of support for this measure is 79.6 billion KRW, combining direct and indirect support.
Direct support for the culture, tourism, and transportation industries amounts to 9.6 billion KRW, financial support for small business owners and self-employed individuals is 20 billion KRW, and the issuance of Gyeongnam Sarang Gift Certificates will be expanded by 50 billion KRW.
In particular, cultural artists who are experiencing difficulties due to cancellations of performances and exhibitions will receive an activity support fund of 500,000 KRW per person.
Tourism companies in the province, including travel agencies whose sales have plummeted by about 80% compared to 2019, will receive 1 million KRW per company as business stabilization funds.
Charter bus drivers will receive 1 million KRW per person, and corporate taxi drivers, who have received less government support compared to individual taxi drivers, will receive an additional 500,000 KRW.
In addition, a special loan program worth 20 billion KRW with a limit of 10 million KRW per company will be implemented for businesses affected by gathering bans and business restrictions.
The local currency, Gyeongnam Sarang Gift Certificates, will be expanded from the originally planned issuance of 70 billion KRW by adding 50 billion KRW, totaling 120 billion KRW.
For small business owners and micro-enterprises who could not use the local tax collection deferral system due to COVID-19 and incurred additional charges, the relevant ordinance will be amended to allow retroactive exemption of already imposed additional charges and penalties.
Kim Heeyong, Director of the Job Economy Bureau, said, "We will prepare detailed payment criteria and quickly provide support in cooperation with cities and counties, starting with areas where payment is possible before the Lunar New Year holiday. We ask for active interest and participation so that we can share and overcome the current difficulties together."
