Gurye-gun, Full Effort to Restore Wastewater Treatment Facility After Disaster

Secured 54 Billion KRW for Restoration Including 27 Billion KRW National Funds... Construction to Begin After Detailed Design for Each Project

[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Yuk Miseok] Gurye-gun, Jeollanam-do announced on the 5th that it has secured a total of 54 billion KRW, including 27 billion KRW in national funds, to restore the sewage treatment facilities damaged by the record heavy rain on August 8 last year, and is making every effort for disaster recovery.

Last August, due to the heavy rain, the Seomjin River and Seosicheon overflowed, causing floods throughout Gurye-gun. The Gurye Sewage Treatment Plant, the manure and livestock manure treatment plant, and 16 small-scale village sewage treatment plants suffered significant damage.

Accordingly, the county quickly carried out emergency restoration such as dredging sewage pipelines and sewage treatment facilities from the day after the damage to minimize inconvenience to residents' lives.

Subsequently, to ensure permanent restoration, a total of 54 billion KRW has been secured, and detailed design services are being conducted for each project.

The small-scale sewage treatment facilities are planned to be restored within this year, and the Gurye Sewage Treatment Plant and the manure and livestock manure treatment plant are scheduled to complete the disaster recovery project by next year.

Kim Sunho, the governor of Gurye-gun, said, “As heavy rains caused by climate change are expected to occur in the future, we will do our best to improve and restore to prevent flooding and ensure that residents do not experience inconvenience.”
