Korea Railroad donated over 10 million won to the Green Umbrella Children's Foundation on the 4th and visited vulnerable children’s households in Dong-gu, Daejeon to deliver Lunar New Year gift sets.
[Asia Economy Reporter Kangwook Cho] Korea Railroad Corporation (KORAIL) announced on the 5th that it will provide goods worth 100 million won, including holiday gift sets and new semester supplies, to vulnerable children and elderly living alone households in cooperation with 127 social welfare organizations nationwide.
KORAIL is operating the "Seolnal Sharing Activity Period" until the 10th, during which employees from 17 volunteer groups across the headquarters and regional offices will participate in social contribution activities tailored to local characteristics, such as delivering briquettes and handing out children's supplies.
Earlier, on the 4th, the volunteer group at the Daejeon headquarters visited 360 households in need, including elderly living alone, together with officials from five district senior welfare centers in Daejeon and the Green Umbrella Children's Foundation, producing and delivering rice cake soup kits and Seol gift kits.
KORAIL has been consistently carrying out social contribution activities that promote coexistence with vulnerable groups, social enterprises, and traditional markets during the Lunar New Year and Chuseok holidays every year.
Since last spring, starting with lunchbox deliveries for seniors who have difficulty going out due to COVID-19, followed by donations of electric fans in summer and winter cold-weather supplies, KORAIL continues to extend helping hands needed by local communities.
A KORAIL official said, "We hope that the elderly and children going through a difficult winter due to COVID-19 will have a warm Seol," and added, "We will continue to carry out sharing activities that are truly needed by our neighbors."
