"Expectations for Establishing a Comprehensive Management System and Strengthening Related Policies"
The Cultural Heritage Administration will enforce the Enforcement Decree of the World Heritage Act, which stipulates matters delegated by the law and necessary for its implementation, starting today (the 5th), in accordance with the enactment of the "Special Act on the Preservation, Management, and Utilization of World Heritage (World Heritage Act)."
The World Heritage Act was enacted on February 4th last year to systematically and efficiently manage South Korea's World Heritage sites in relation to the "Convention Concerning the Protection of the World Cultural and Natural Heritage." The main contents are broadly divided into four categories: ▲ major policies or plans directly related to the registration, preservation, utilization, and support of World Heritage ▲ contents that must be included in notices such as the designation of World Heritage districts ▲ contents and procedures of annual project plans for the preservation, management, and utilization of World Heritage ▲ procedures for hearing the opinions of residents and others.
An official stated, "A smooth operational foundation will be established to build a comprehensive management system for World Heritage and to strengthen related policies."
