What Is the Secret Behind Yeongdeungpo-gu Medical Tourism Promotion SNS Gaining 53,339 Followers in 8 Months? Started Operating Mongolian Medical Tourism SNS


[Asia Economy Reporter Park Jong-il] Yeongdeungpo-gu (Mayor Chae Hyun-il) has launched multilingual SNS (social networking service) operations to more vividly convey the district's differentiated medical services and tourism information to domestic and international medical tourists.


In May last year, the district opened a total of four multilingual channels to promote Yeongdeungpo medical tourism: ▲Facebook (supporting Thai, Vietnamese, and English) ▲Weibo (supporting Chinese) ▲Facebook (supporting Russian) ▲Instagram (supporting Korean and English).


These SNS channels, through user-centered content production and sincere communication, achieved a total of 53,339 followers and over 2 million post exposures within eight months of operation, establishing themselves as representative promotional channels for Korean medical tourism.


Building on this success, the district newly launched a Facebook channel in Mongolian this year. Through this, it plans to actively promote the charm of Yeongdeungpo medical tourism to people worldwide by sharing VR hospital promotional content that provides a sense of presence and introducing medical tourism theme courses.


Additionally, in response to the rising demand for non-face-to-face medical tourism consultations, which have become popular with the normalization of On-Tact, the district will collaborate with specialized businesses and partner institutions to provide Yeongdeungpo medical tourism Q&A and online inquiry response services.


Meanwhile, following the designation as a ‘Smart Medical Special Zone’ by the Ministry of SMEs and Startups in 2017, the district signed business agreements with 10 specialized medical institutions in 2018 and has been accelerating domestic and international promotion of the excellence of Yeongdeungpo Medical Tourism Special Zone through official SNS channels and SNS supporters since 2020.


Chae Hyun-il, Mayor of Yeongdeungpo-gu, stated, “We are striving to communicate in real time with those interested in Yeongdeungpo medical tourism through SNS and provide prompt and accurate information through high-quality content,” adding, “We will continue to operate sincerely to meet the interest and expectations of medical tourists.”
