Daegu City Announces Volunteer Excellence Program Contest ... 4 Million KRW Support Per Program

Last Year's Best Volunteer Group is Dalseong-gun's 'Daon Youth Love Sharing'

[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Park Dong-wook] Daegu City announced on the 4th that it will hold a contest for excellent volunteer programs in 2021 to develop and support innovative and original volunteer programs led by the private sector.

In this contest, more than five excellent programs per district and county that contribute to strengthening the activity capacity of private volunteer groups and revitalizing volunteer work will be selected, and project funds of up to 4 million KRW per program will be supported.

In particular, this year’s contest will prioritize selecting programs that address social issues and programs involving the increasing participation of the baby boomer retirement generation. Various non-face-to-face volunteer programs responding to changes in the times will also be discovered and supported.

Organizations wishing to participate can download the application form and project plan from the Daegu City website and submit them in person or by mail to the volunteer center of the relevant district or county from the 15th of this month until March 10th.

Eligibility requires volunteer groups with more than 20 members registered in the '1365 Volunteer Portal System.' Organizations receiving project funds for the same or similar projects from national or local governments are excluded.

Daegu City will award one grand prize, three excellence awards, and twelve encouragement awards through a final evaluation at the end of the year. Additionally, a collection of activity cases will be published to widely share excellent volunteer programs.

Lee Eun-ah, head of the Autonomous Administration Division of Daegu City, stated, "We will discover various citizen-centered volunteer activity programs to increase citizen satisfaction and spread excellent volunteer cases."

Meanwhile, last year’s contest selected 70 programs out of 89 submitted. In the year-end evaluation, the 'Generation Empathy - Writing Autobiographies (Picture Books) by Youth and Seniors' program by 'Daon Youth Love Sharing' in Dalseong-gun won the grand prize.
