[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Bong-ju] Singer Defconn's agency denied claims that he was formerly in a juvenile detention center.

On the 2nd, Defconn's agency SM C&C released an official statement saying, "The claims of juvenile detention and a 10th disposition (transfer to juvenile detention within 2 years) are groundless, and he has never been exempted from military service." They added, "The recent information circulating online is a false and malicious rumor."

The agency stated, "We are currently collecting materials related to these malicious rumors and false information, and through multifaceted and continuous monitoring and countermeasures, we will protect the honor and personal rights of our artist."

When Defconn appeared as a detective character on MBC's variety show 'Hangout with Yoo?' on the 30th of last month, some netizens demanded his withdrawal, saying, "It is inappropriate for Defconn, who is said to be a juvenile detention center alumnus, to play a detective character."

In relation to this, Defconn's appearance on MBC's variety show 'Knee-Drop Guru' in 2013, where he revealed that he was involved in a school fight during his student days, resurfaced.

Regarding this, the agency said, "As Defconn revealed on a past variety show, it is true that he once participated in a fight with friends he used to hang out with a long time ago." However, they added, "He apologized to the victim at the time and has lived with a lifelong reflective heart, striving to improve himself. He will continue to work harder."

They also stated, "We want to prevent further damage and restore the tarnished honor of the artist. Currently, we are collecting materials regarding the malicious rumors and false information being spread online," hinting at legal action.

Meanwhile, Defconn is actively participating in various variety shows. He is currently appearing on 'Hangout with Yoo?' and SBS's 'Law of the Jungle,' among others.
