Jangseong-gun to Provide Gift Certificates for Voluntary Return of Driver's Licenses by Seniors

[Jangseong=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters, Reporter Jo Hangyu] Jangseong-gun, Jeollanam-do announced on the 2nd that starting this year, it will accept the surrender of driver's licenses from residents aged 70 and over (born on or before December 31, 1951).

The county has relaxed the age restriction for license surrender applications, which until last year were only accepted from drivers aged 75 and over.

If eligible drivers surrender all licenses they own, including their automobile driver's license, the county will provide local currency (Jangseong Sarang Gift Certificates) worth 100,000 won.

Previously, applications were accepted only at police stations, but since the simplified service was implemented in August last year, applications can also be submitted at the administrative welfare centers of the relevant eup and myeon.

A county official said, "By lowering the age limit for license surrender to 70, we expect an increase in application rates and a reduction in traffic accidents," adding, "We will do our best to establish traffic safety."
