[Asia Economy Reporter Oh Ju-yeon] Responses indicating political support for President Moon Jae-in stood at 46.8%, while those not supporting him were 49.3%. The gap between support and non-support is 2.5 percentage points, which is within the margin of error. Compared to the first week of January survey, support decreased by 0.4 percentage points, and non-support decreased by 0.1 percentage points. By gender, 43.8% of men and 49.6% of women responded that they support President Moon, showing relatively higher support among women.

Party support recorded the Democratic Party of Korea at 33.7% and the People Power Party at 27.0%. Compared to the first week of January survey, the Democratic Party rose by 1.0 percentage point, while the People Power Party fell by 0.2 percentage points. The gap between the two parties is 6.7 percentage points, with the Democratic Party holding an advantage over the People Power Party beyond the margin of error. Support for other parties ranked as follows: the People’s Party at 7.3%, the Open Democratic Party at 5.6%, and the Justice Party at 4.9%.


This survey was conducted on residents of Seoul aged 18 and over from the 30th to 31st of last month, with an overall response rate of 7.6%, totaling 1,009 respondents. The survey method was wireless ARS using 100% mobile phone virtual numbers. The sample was extracted with weighting by gender, age, and region based on the resident registration population as of the end of December 2020 from the Ministry of the Interior and Safety (cell weighting). The sampling error is ±3.1 percentage points at a 95% confidence level.
