[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Choi Kyung-pil] Wando-gun, Jeollanam-do announced that County Governor Shin Woo-cheol decided to provide disaster relief funds of 100,000 KRW per resident through a statement on the 1st.

Governor Shin said, “Due to the prolonged COVID-19 pandemic, the local economy has stagnated, and the difficulties in residents' lives have increased. We decided to provide disaster relief funds to offer practical help to the residents.”

Accordingly, the Wando County Council also shares the intention to provide disaster relief funds and plans to hold a council meeting on the 4th to approve the first supplementary budget and the Wando-gun Emergency Disaster Relief Fund Support Ordinance.

The disaster relief fund will cost about 5 billion KRW from the county budget and will be distributed in the form of Wando Love Gift Certificates to revitalize the local economy.

The recipients are those who have an address in Wando-gun as of January 31, 2021. They can visit the local eup/myeon office to receive a confirmation certificate and exchange it for gift certificates at NongHyup, SuHyup, ChukHyup, Forest Cooperative, ShinHyup, Saemaeul Geumgo, and other institutions.

The application period for the gift certificates is from the 5th, before the Lunar New Year, until March 5th. Residents who apply on March 5th can receive the gift certificates by March 8th.

Instead of individual applications, a household head application system will be introduced to ensure the gift certificates are distributed quickly, and a five-day rotation system will be applied to prevent the spread of COVID-19. (Based on the last digit of the birth year of the household head and cohabitants: Monday 1,6; Tuesday 2,7; Wednesday 3,8; Thursday 4,9; Friday 5,0)

Governor Shin Woo-cheol said, “Although the amount is small, I hope it will help with daily life and contribute to the local economy through the use of Wando Love Gift Certificates. It has been inconvenient and difficult for over a year, but I earnestly ask for a little more patience to protect our safety until COVID-19 ends.”

For inquiries regarding the disaster relief funds, contact the General Affairs Team of Wando County Office or the General Affairs Team of the eup/myeon offices.
