[Asia Economy Reporter Seungjin Lee] Namyang Dairy Products has decided to request a police investigation into malicious commenters who posted harmful messages every minute on major domestic communities such as Bobae Dream, Clien, and DVD Prime.

On the 29th, a Namyang Dairy Products official stated, "Recently, dozens of posts inciting boycott movements have been posted every minute across different communities, so we have decided to request a police investigation," adding, "The same content has been posted hundreds of times simultaneously on more than ten communities, causing damage not only to employees and dealerships but also to shareholders."

All these posts were titled "Sounds of Namyang Sales Dropping." The spread began recently after influencer Hwang Hana (33) was arrested on charges of violating the Narcotics Control Act. Because Hwang is the great-granddaughter of the late Honorary Chairman Hong Doo-young, the posts claimed things like "Hwang Hana might later join Namyang as a director" and "Hwang Hana's company Namyang out," urging a boycott.

Namyang Dairy Products stated, "Neither Hwang nor any family member holds any shares in Namyang Dairy Products, nor are they involved in management activities," and added, "It is very regrettable that the name Namyang Dairy Products is being associated and causing confusion and concern among consumers simply because she is the great-granddaughter of the founder."

Namyang Dairy Products believes that this was not the act of an individual but an organized activity. A Namyang official said, "The malicious commenters flooded online community boards with posts and then deleted their IDs, and since the posts included the phrase 'for distribution,' we believe a specific group is promoting the boycott."

Meanwhile, separate from this incident, Namyang Dairy Products is currently investigating and has requested police action against specific IDs that have continuously posted defamatory comments over the years on online boards under different nicknames. These posts were titled "Sounds of Namyang Dairy Products' Market Cap Dropping" and have been posted on various communities over the past several years.

A Namyang Dairy Products official said, "We will listen carefully to customers' stories and criticisms directed at the company and strive for the company's development," adding, "However, regarding specific IDs that cause harm to the company with false information, we plan to take unavoidable measures to prevent further innocent damage."
