Gurye-gun to Provide 100,000 Won Disaster Relief Fund to All Residents Starting Next Month 6

[Gurye=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Yuk Miseok] On the 28th, Gurye-gun, Jeollanam-do announced that it will provide disaster relief funds to all residents before the Lunar New Year holiday to support residents struggling due to the prolonged COVID-19 pandemic.

The disaster relief fund from Gurye-gun is 100,000 KRW per resident, and the recipients are those who have an address in Gurye-gun as of January 25.

Distribution will take place from February 6 to 10 at the local town and township offices regardless of holidays, and the funds will be distributed on-site in the form of Gurye Sarang Gift Certificates. Due to the large population in Gurye-eup, a separate plan for dispersed distribution will be established.

Those who do not receive the funds by February 10 can collect them at their local town or township office until the 26th.

Gurye-gun submitted a supplementary budget proposal to the Gurye County Council on the 26th, and the council approved the supplementary budget on the 28th.

It is expected that approximately 2.6 billion KRW will be required for about 25,500 people. Gurye-gun restructured expenditure budgets such as festival expenses to secure the necessary funds.

County Governor Kim Sun-ho stated, “Although the financial situation is difficult due to the large amount of funds needed for flood damage recovery, we judged that supporting residents who are facing hardships should come first,” and added, “We hope this will be a small help to the residents who have participated in COVID-19 prevention efforts and shared the pain.”

Meanwhile, the Gurye Sarang Gift Certificates, which will be provided as disaster relief funds, can only be used at affiliated stores such as traditional markets within Gurye, and are expected to also help local small business owners ahead of the holiday season.
