"Former Busan Mayor Oh Keo-don Charged Without Detention for Sexual Harassment of Subordinate... 9 Months After Resignation"

[Asia Economy Reporter Song Seung-yoon] Former Busan Mayor Oh Keo-don, accused of sexually harassing subordinates, has been brought to trial without detention nine months after resigning from his mayoral position.

The Busan District Prosecutors' Office announced on the 28th that former Mayor Oh was indicted without detention on charges including forced molestation causing injury.

The prosecution applied four charges against former Mayor Oh: forced molestation, attempted forced molestation, forced molestation causing injury, and false accusation. However, all related parties were cleared of charges regarding violations of the Public Official Election Act for allegedly influencing the general election by coordinating the timing of his resignation.

Former Mayor Oh confessed to his sexual harassment on April 23 of last year and stepped down from his mayoral position.

The police transferred former Mayor Oh to the prosecution with a recommendation for indictment after a four-month investigation in August of last year. After supplementary investigations, the prosecution requested an arrest warrant for former Mayor Oh in December of the same year, but the court dismissed it.
