Gwangju City Supports Installation Costs of Air Pollution Control Facilities for Small and Medium Enterprises Gwangju City Hall

[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Park Seon-gang] Gwangju Metropolitan City announced on the 28th that it will invest 5.2 billion KRW to support the installation costs of air pollution prevention facilities for small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) facing economic difficulties due to strengthened air pollution emission standards.

This support aims to alleviate the economic burden on companies while improving air quality, following the strengthening of air pollutant emission standards by more than 30% since last year.

Depending on the type of prevention facility per workplace, up to 450 million KRW, and in the case of joint prevention facilities, up to 720 million KRW, will be supported for up to 90% of the installation costs.

The support targets SMEs classified as types 4 to 5 air emission businesses currently located in Gwangju, while types 1 to 3 SMEs will be supported depending on budget conditions.

However, businesses that have installed air pollution prevention facilities less than three years ago or have recently received support from the government (central or local) are excluded, and supported businesses must operate the respective prevention facilities for more than three years.

Additionally, there is a support condition requiring the attachment of Internet of Things (IoT) artificial intelligence (AI) measuring devices to the prevention facilities.

Businesses wishing to participate must submit related documents to the City Climate and Environment Policy Division from the 1st to the 22nd of next month. Within the budget range, final businesses will be selected through priority ranking, document review, and on-site investigation, and individual notifications are planned for March.

For detailed information such as related forms, please refer to the city website’s notices and announcements posted on the 29th or contact the City Climate and Environment Policy Division.

Song Yong-su, head of the City Climate and Environment Policy Division, said, “The small-scale prevention facility installation support project is expected to greatly help improve air quality by minimizing air pollutant emissions through scientific workplace management using artificial intelligence (AI), while reducing the economic burden on SMEs.”
