Support of 32.5 Million Won per Vehicle... 2-Year Mandatory Operation Condition
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Park Seon-gang] Gwangju Metropolitan City announced on the 28th that it will accept subsidy applications for 150 hydrogen electric vehicles.
Hydrogen electric vehicles operate using electricity generated by the combination of hydrogen stored in the vehicle and air from the atmosphere, emitting only pure water during the electricity generation process. They are 100% eco-friendly vehicles that contribute to greenhouse gas reduction and improvement of a pleasant air environment.
Of the first batch of 150 hydrogen electric vehicles supplied this year, 135 will be distributed to general citizens and corporations, and 15 will be allocated to priority recipients such as vulnerable groups, families with multiple children, first-time vehicle buyers, purchasers of vehicles with high fine dust improvement effects, and residents near hydrogen charging station construction sites.
In the second half of the year, up to 395 additional vehicles are planned to be supplied considering the supply trend.
The subsidy support targets are citizens aged 18 or older with an address in Gwangju as of the day before the purchase application, those who have continuously resided in Gwangju for more than 90 days, or companies, corporations, and organizations with business locations in Gwangju.
Once confirmed as a subsidy recipient, support of a total of 32.5 million KRW per vehicle will be provided, including 22.5 million KRW from the national government and 10 million KRW from the city government, and recipients must comply with a mandatory operation period of two years.
To receive the subsidy, applicants must fill out the application form posted in the announcement section on the city’s website and submit the documents to the dealership at the time of vehicle contract.
For more details, inquiries can be made to the city’s Automobile Industry Division or the vehicle manufacturer and seller.
In Gwangju, including six hydrogen buses introduced last year, 730 hydrogen electric vehicles have been supplied and are in operation, and three charging stations?Jingok, Donggok, and Imam?are currently operating for citizens’ use.
Additionally, by the end of the year, efforts are being accelerated to revitalize hydrogen vehicle supply and expand charging infrastructure through the expansion projects of Jingok and Donggok charging stations and the construction of the Wolchul charging station.
Park Jun-yeol, head of the city’s Automobile Industry Division, said, “We will do our best to enable citizens to conveniently charge their vehicles by expanding charging station infrastructure for the additional supply of 550 hydrogen electric vehicles this year.”
