[Asia Economy Reporter Onyu Lim] Hoban Group's employee volunteer team, 'Hoban Sarang Nanum-i,' is conducting a Seollal (Lunar New Year) happiness sharing event as their first volunteer activity of the new year.
On the 28th, Hoban Sarang Nanum-i will donate 10 million KRW and 150 bags of rice (10kg each) to the Food Bank Market Center in Seocho-gu, Seoul, for the Seollal happiness sharing fund. The donated funds and rice will be distributed to about 300 low-income households and elderly living alone within Seocho-gu. The funds donated by Hoban Sarang Nanum-i were raised through employee contributions, and the 150 bags of rice were 'Love Rice' received instead of wreaths at model houses when Hoban Construction sold apartments.
Additionally, the Seocho-gu Food Bank Market Center plans to purchase Seollal happiness sharing items at the 'Goodwill Store' using the donated funds. The Goodwill Store is a workplace for people with disabilities that sells reprocessed items donated by companies or individuals, and the sales proceeds are used as salaries for disabled employees.
A Hoban Construction social contribution officer stated, "We hope this small support will help our neighbors who are struggling due to the prolonged COVID-19 pandemic," and added, "This year as well, the Hoban Sarang Nanum-i volunteer team will strive to carry out happy sharing activities where help is needed."
Meanwhile, Hoban Sarang Nanum-i has been conducting 'monthly visiting volunteer activities' since 2009. Since last year, due to COVID-19, they have continued non-face-to-face volunteer and sharing activities. Last year, Hoban Sarang Nanum-i carried out campaigns to overcome COVID-19, improved working environments for disabled workers, supported households affected by typhoons, provided briquettes to heating-vulnerable groups, and assisted with kimchi-making for child and youth care facilities.
