COVID-19 Spread from Gwangju Church to Jeonnam... Boseong Public Official Confirmed Positive

[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Yoon Jamin] The COVID-19 community infection related to Gwangju Andiok Church is spreading to Jeonnam Province.

According to Jeonnam Province quarantine authorities on the 28th, a confirmed case classified as Gwangju number 1683 was identified as an employee working at Boseong County Office, leading to the closure of the entire county office and diagnostic testing for all employees.

This confirmed case is a public official residing in Dong-gu, Gwangju Metropolitan City, commuting to Boseong County Office, and attended a service at Gwangju Andiok Church on the 25th. The individual was tested at Dong-gu Public Health Center in Gwangju the previous day and received a positive diagnosis that morning.

It was confirmed that the person had been at the office from the afternoon of the 25th until the morning of the previous day and had lunch at the in-house cafeteria on the 27th.

Although not a staff member involved in public-facing duties, the individual used the in-house cafeteria, so quarantine authorities conducted comprehensive testing for about 400 employees.

All tested employees entered self-quarantine until results were available, and staff members in the confirmed case’s department were quarantined for two weeks. The county office is scheduled to remain closed until the morning of the 29th.
