[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Lee Gwan-woo] Yoo Yoon-jung, head of nursing at Chosun University Hospital, received a commendation from the Minister of Health and Welfare for her contributions to improving the working environment and treatment of nursing staff.
According to Chosun University Hospital on the 28th, the Ministry of Health recently delivered the commendation certificate to the hospital without holding a separate award ceremony, in accordance with social distancing measures implemented to prevent the spread of COVID-19.
Head Nurse Yoo was recognized for her significant contributions to improving the working environment and treatment by protecting nurses' rights, innovating the rigid nursing organizational system and culture, and implementing related policies and training to help new nurses adapt well to the field, in order to address the supply and smooth response of nursing staff amid the ongoing heavy workload caused by the spread of COVID-19 infections.
Head Nurse Yoo stated, “To provide patients with safe and high-quality medical services, it is necessary to resolve the manpower shortage issue by increasing the activity rate of medical institutions through mitigating career breaks for nurses and encouraging long-term employment.” She added, “I will continue to do my best to develop educational curricula considering ward characteristics and career levels, and to improve the organizational culture of medical institutions.”
