According to the city on the 28th, the 10 billion KRW worth of gift certificates issued in January were sold out within 9 days of issuance.
The Gimhae Sarang Gift Certificate is issued at 10 a.m. on the first weekday of every month, and the 8 billion KRW for February will be issued on the 1st of next month.
Since February includes the Lunar New Year holiday, the monthly purchase limit per person has increased by 200,000 KRW to 700,000 KRW.
With a 10% discount sale and various events, the gift certificates have gained word-of-mouth popularity among citizens, and demand surged sharply from the second half of last year, leading to early sell-out of all issued certificates by November last year.
Accordingly, the city plans to issue the annual target amount of 100 billion KRW in monthly installments so that citizens can enjoy benefits evenly throughout the year.
Mayor Heo Seong-gon said, "Using the Gimhae Sarang Gift Certificate not only increases consumption within the region and prevents capital outflow, thereby significantly boosting the income of local small business owners and self-employed people, but also reduces the economic burden on citizens, making it a good consumption practice." He added, "We will continue to provide support so that the gift certificates can contribute to revitalizing the local economy."
