[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Jong-hwa] Halla Cement announced on the 28th that it will hold a public-private joint "Winter Wildlife Feeding and Snare Removal Event" together with the Wildlife Federation near its limestone mine restoration site located in Okgye-myeon, Gangneung City next month.

Co-hosted by Halla Cement, Wonju Regional Environmental Office, and the Wildlife Federation, this event has been held annually since 2008 as a public environmental activity aimed at creating a practical environment where wildlife can return. To secure habitats and conserve wildlife populations, habitats are created around the mine restoration site, food is supplied, and continuous monitoring is conducted to ensure that the animals properly settle and live there.

Every winter, participants supply food such as mulberry leaves and mineral blocks to feeding stations installed in wildlife habitats and simultaneously carry out illegal snare removal work.

Last year's event was held on December 11 with about 20 participants including employees of Halla Cement's Okgye Plant, Wonju Regional Environmental Office, and the Wildlife Federation. Earlier, on December 9, Halla Cement employees also participated in a "Mountain Goat Feeding" event hosted by the Wildlife Federation in the Gagok-myeon area of Samcheok City.

Kim Hak-sung, head of Halla Cement's External Cooperation Team, said, "The wildlife feeding event is one of the company's key public environmental activities for sustainable growth," adding, "Its significance is even greater as it is an event where public, private, and civic sectors come together with shared commitment."
