Young people who participated in last year's community-led youth job project are taking part in the 'Career UP Workshop for Participating Youth'.
[Asia Economy Reporter Jongil Park] Seongdong-gu (Mayor Jeong Won-oh) is recruiting 10 companies to participate in the 'Smart 4th Youth IT Talent Job Project' until February 2.
The 'Smart 4th Youth IT Talent Job Project' is part of the Ministry of the Interior and Safety's region-led youth job project. It supports wages for newly hired youth in companies, provides youth with work experience opportunities, and creates sustainable jobs by linking to regular employment.
In 2020, the district supported wages for youth job seekers linked to 14 small and medium-sized enterprises through the 'Youth Regional Industry Job Stepping Stone Project,' achieving the result that all 13 youths who completed the project normally by its end were employed as regular workers.
Eligible companies for the recruitment are those located in Seongdong-gu with five or more regular employees, capable of providing jobs in non-face-to-face and digital technology-related fields by newly hiring youth.
Selected companies will receive up to 1.8 million KRW per month, which is 90% of the youth wage (based on 2 million KRW per month), for nine months.
Applications are open until February 2, targeting small and medium enterprises, venture companies, and companies residing in knowledge industry centers. Preference will be given to companies that hire youth as regular employees, promising youth industries such as IT, 4th industry sectors, startups, Ministry of Employment and Labor certified small, medium, venture, and youth-friendly strong companies, women-owned businesses, social enterprises, cooperatives, and village enterprises. A total of 10 companies will be selected.

Jeong Won-oh, Mayor of Seongdong-gu, said, "We are providing youth with work experience opportunities in non-face-to-face and digital technology-related fields to help them adapt to the changing employment environment due to COVID-19, enhance their job competencies, and ultimately lead to regular employment." He added, "We will continue to actively support promising local companies and excellent talents to grow together."
