Chungnam Fire Department Prevents Property Damage Worth '900 Billion Won' Through Fire Suppression

[Asia Economy (Hongseong) Reporter Jeong Il-woong] The Chungnam Provincial Fire Headquarters announced on the 27th that the estimated amount of fire damage reduction through fire suppression activities last year was 904.4 billion won.

The fire damage reduction amount is calculated by subtracting the actual damage caused by the fire from the total property value at the fire occurrence site.

For example, the Provincial Fire Headquarters suppressed a fire that occurred on October 18 last year in the petrochemical complex in Daesan-eup, Seosan City, preventing property damage worth 114 billion won without any casualties.

Also, on November 12 last year, during a factory fire in Seobuk-gu, Cheonan City, a quick response led to early extinguishment, estimated to have protected property worth 93.2 billion won.

In particular, the fire damage reduction amount last year increased by 134% compared to 2019 (387 billion won), which is 2.4 times the total annual budget of the Provincial Fire Headquarters.

Meanwhile, a total of 2,075 fires occurred in Chungnam last year, resulting in 63 casualties (17 deaths, 46 injuries) and property damage worth approximately 22.3 billion won.
