[Asia Economy Reporter Baek Kyunghwan] Kim Jin-wook, Chief of the Corruption Investigation Office for High-ranking Officials (CIO), is scheduled to visit the Supreme Prosecutors' Office as early as next week to meet with Prosecutor General Yoon Seok-yeol.
According to legal circles on the 27th, Kim's side is currently coordinating the schedule with the Supreme Prosecutors' Office for the meeting with Prosecutor General Yoon.
The purpose of Kim's visit to Prosecutor General Yoon is a customary introductory greeting and is expected to be a routine courtesy meeting. However, since there had been many expectations that Prosecutor General Yoon would be the first investigation target of the CIO even before its launch, attention is likely to focus on the meeting between the two.
Meanwhile, Kim, who took office on the 21st, has been actively visiting major institutions. On the 25th, he visited the National Cemetery to pay respects, and the day before, he met with Park Byeong-seok, Speaker of the National Assembly, Lee Nak-yeon, leader of the Democratic Party of Korea, and Joo Ho-young, leader of the People Power Party. On the afternoon of the same day, he is scheduled to meet Lee Chan-hee, President of the Korean Bar Association, and on the 29th, he will meet Kim Myung-soo, Chief Justice of the Supreme Court, respectively.
