Gimhae-si Distributes Food Kits to Neighbors in Need for the Holiday
[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Lee Sang-hyun] The Food Market in Gimhae City, Gyeongnam Province, which promotes food donations and addresses the issue of food insecurity among vulnerable neighbors in the region, will distribute food kits in celebration of the Lunar New Year holiday.
According to the city on the 27th, to prevent the spread of the novel coronavirus infection (COVID-19), distribution will be conducted using drive-through and walking-through methods.
Additionally, to prevent congestion among recipients, a 5-day rotation system based on the last digit of the birthdate will be implemented.
New users will be informed in advance about the quarantine guidelines and their designated visit dates to ensure they can receive the items quickly and safely.
Recipients were selected in early January according to selection criteria, with a total of 500 households chosen.
Park Jong-joo, Director of the Citizen Welfare Division, said, “As the Lunar New Year approaches, we are pleased to be able to share food kits so that our neighbors in need can have a somewhat warmer holiday.” He added, “We will continue to do our best to discover sponsoring companies to prevent food insecurity among low-income groups.”
