[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters, Reporter Lee Sang-hyun] Gimhae City, Gyeongnam Province, is implementing a management project with a budget of 740 million KRW to preserve groundwater.
The city announced on the 27th that since January, it has been providing support for groundwater quality inspection fees targeting areas without water supply, replacing old or faulty meters for groundwater users, and supporting restoration costs for abandoned groundwater wells that are no longer in use.
Starting next month, the city plans to conduct a groundwater usage survey in five myeon (townships), introduce a groundwater video system for users where meter reading is difficult, and expand a groundwater auxiliary monitoring network using ICT.
Additionally, a remote groundwater monitoring system will be introduced for 41 wells across four golf courses that use large amounts of groundwater to ensure no facility exceeds its water intake plan.
A city official stated, “By establishing a scientific monitoring system utilizing ICT, we will analyze real-time groundwater usage,” and added, “We will do our best to prevent groundwater pollution in advance.”
