[Asia Economy Reporter Lim Chun-han] Lotte Hi-Mart announced on the 27th that sales of dishwashers, electric ranges, and food waste disposers sold from the 1st to the 26th of this month increased by 95%, 40%, and 800% respectively compared to the same period last year.
Kitchen appliances that help make cooking easy from start to finish are gaining popularity. A discount event is also being held until the 31st of this month for consumers purchasing before the Lunar New Year.
At Lotte Hi-Mart stores nationwide, customers who purchase LG Electronics electric range promotional products with event cards will receive up to 100,000 KRW cashback. When purchasing Samsung Electronics 3-burner and 1-burner electric range promotional products together, customers will receive 250,000 L.POINTs. If customers buy a Cuckoo Electronics 3-burner electric range or dishwasher along with a 1-burner electric range, they can get 119,000 KRW cashback. Dishwashers come with gifts such as vacuum cleaners and detergents depending on the promotional brand.
A Lotte Hi-Mart official said, “Kitchen appliances such as dishwashers and electric ranges have been popular since last year, and these items are expected to grow this year as well,” adding, “We see an increase in consumers looking for appliances that provide practical help in reducing household chores ahead of the holidays.”
