According to Gwangju Metropolitan City on the 27th, from the previous day until now, 121 people (112 on the 26th and 9 on the 27th) have tested positive, classified as Gwangju cases number 1524 to 1644.
Among them, 109 people (Gwangju cases 1536 to 1644) are students, staff, and church members of Gwangju TCS International Church, which reported the highest number of cases in a single day. Gwangju TCS is operated by Hanmaeum Church located in the same building.
In the full inspection of Gwangju TCS International School (including Hanmaeum Church), 109 out of 135 related persons tested positive, and 26 tested negative.
The quarantine authorities plan to transfer most of the confirmed students at Gwangju TCS International School, many of whom are minors and residents from other regions, to nearby residential treatment centers.
Gwangju TCS International School, an unlicensed educational facility related to IM Mission, was revealed to have housed students and staff from all over the country for boarding education aimed at training missionaries. The total number of people in the facility is 122, with students accounting for more than half at 66.
There are a total of four educational facilities related to IM Mission: TCS Ace International School (Buk-gu, operated by Bitnaeri Church), Gwangju TCS International School (Gwangsan-gu, operated by Hanmaeum Church), Tikun TCS International School (Nam-gu, operated by Gwangmyeong Seohyeon Church), and Antioch Trinity CAS (Seo-gu, operated by Antioch Church).
On the previous day, 6 additional confirmed cases were reported at TCS Ace International School, bringing the cumulative related cases to 37. Large-scale group infections are occurring at unlicensed educational facilities related to religious organizations.
In addition, cases with unknown infection routes and contacts of existing confirmed patients tested positive, increasing the cumulative confirmed cases in the Gwangju area to 1,644.
