Demand for Kitchen Appliances Doubles Compared to Previous Lunar New Year Amid COVID-19 Home Cooking Surge
Dishwashers Up 117%, Rice Cookers 29%, Electric Pan Grills 30%, Air Fryers 10%↑

It is a period when many consumers buy new kitchenware to prepare for ancestral rites and family meals, and recently, the 'home cook' trend due to the COVID-19 pandemic has significantly increased the use of kitchenware, attracting even more consumers to the 'holiday purchase chance.'
According to Homeplus on the 27th, dishwasher sales during last year's Chuseok season surged 117% compared to the same period the previous year. Sales also increased for rice cookers by 29%, electric pan grills, coffee makers, and toasters each by 30%, air fryers by 10%, and electric ranges by 4%.
Homeplus expects the number of consumers seeking kitchenware to rise ahead of this Lunar New Year as well, and will hold a 'Kitchenware Special Exhibition' nationwide and online for two weeks from January 28 to February 10. Through this event, kitchen cooking tools, cooking appliances, and storage products will be sold at discounts of up to 50%.
The multi-cooker Cuckoo Speed Pot (CMC-A0655FB) is offered at 109,000 KRW, the Cuckoo IH pressure rice cooker (HPF0668SH) at 179,000 KRW, and the Cuchen IH pressure rice cooker (HA0630SK) at 189,000 KRW. Customers purchasing Cuckoo or Cuchen products above a certain amount will also receive gift certificates worth up to 30,000 KRW.
The KitchenArt steaming cauldron is priced at 49,900 KRW, the Domus two-plate mini grill at 34,900 KRW, and Homeplus Signature square multi grill and small-to-medium grills are offered at 59,900 KRW and between 39,900 KRW to 59,900 KRW respectively. GS air fryers in three sizes (2.6 to 5.5 liters) receive a 20,000 KRW discount when paid with event cards, and two models of Cuisinart and KitchenArt waffle makers are sold at 59,800 KRW and 27,900 KRW respectively. Two multi-cookers are offered at affordable prices of 49,900 KRW and 69,800 KRW each.
The NeoFlam FIKA starter set (petite wok pan 18cm, double-handled pot 18cm), popular for its sentimental design, is priced at 63,900 KRW with a 5,000 KRW gift certificate upon purchase. Gwangjuyo earthenware mugwort-colored single-tier sets (4 pieces) and noodle bowl sets (2 pieces) are sold at 34,900 KRW each.
Tefal offers over 100 products and Happycall over 90 products with discounts up to 30%, Corelle single dish items up to 30% off, about 30 Cuisinart kitchenware items at 20% off, and Denby Elements series tableware with about 57 items priced at 9,900 KRW and 12,900 KRW each. Gift certificates are also given for purchases above a certain amount. Ecozen Allpumrak premium stainless steel airtight containers (11 types) range from 7,900 KRW to 12,900 KRW, and Lock&Lock, Glasslock, and Comex airtight containers (about 150 types) are discounted up to 50%. Lock&Lock vacuum rice containers in two sizes (10kg and 20kg) are priced at 79,000 KRW and 99,000 KRW respectively.
Major fresh food items are also offered at affordable prices. From January 28 to February 3, My Homeplus members can enjoy up to 40% off on chilled US and Australian steamed short ribs, 30% off all Nonghyup safe Korean beef grilling cuts, 20% off branded pork front and hind legs, and 20% discounts on seafood such as Busan mackerel (per fish, extra-large), Wando abalone (100g, medium), South Sea raw oysters (250g), cleaned squid (large), South Sea raw red sea bream (per fish, large), Gochang raw freshwater eel (100g), South Sea Spanish mackerel (per fish, extra-large), and Jeju yellow croaker (per fish).
