[Asia Economy (Sejong) Reporter Jeong Il-woong] Companies in the Sejong area achieved export results worth 13.03 million dollars last year.
Sejong City announced on the 26th that it carried out the ‘Sejong City Overseas Market Support Project’ last year, resulting in 45 local companies achieving a contract expected amount of 13.039 million dollars.
The city explained that during the spread of the novel coronavirus infection (COVID-19), when the global economy and domestic market were in recession, discovering non-face-to-face and online businesses and connecting local companies with overseas buyers played a key role in pioneering overseas markets.
In fact, last year the city promoted eight projects including ▲non-face-to-face trade delegations ▲support for online participation in overseas exhibitions and fairs ▲operation of the Sejong Excellent Companies Exhibition Hall, discovering online marketing projects to support local companies’ exports.
For example, ‘Fine TNC,’ a detergent manufacturing company participating in the ‘Export Company Support Project,’ received consulting from the city covering the entire process from overseas expansion strategy establishment to trade operations, achieving export results worth 100,000 dollars.
Also, Pushpull System Co., Ltd., which participated in the ‘Jakarta Online Consumer Goods Exhibition,’ achieved results worth 20,000 dollars targeting countries such as Indonesia, the United States, and Vietnam. IC Food Co., Ltd. continues to promote new products by sending samples to large distributors in Vietnam through the ‘Sejong 1:1 Online Video Consultation Meeting’ connecting overseas buyers.
Meanwhile, according to the ‘2020 Local Government Trade Statistics’ announced by the Korea International Trade Association on the 20th, the total export scale of the Sejong area last year was 1.3048 billion dollars, an increase of 1.2% compared to the previous year (1.28515 billion dollars).
This figure is 4.7 times larger than the export scale of 279 million dollars just after the city’s launch in 2012, over eight years.
Building on this momentum, the city plans to promote online-centered projects such as supporting local companies’ participation in online overseas exhibitions and operating the Sejong Excellent Companies Online Exhibition Hall during the first half of this year.
