Gangseo-gu public officials are committed to protecting the rights and interests of children.
Seoul Gangseo-gu (Mayor Noh Hyun-song) will announce the 'Child Protection Code of Conduct' on the 26th to create a safe and happy environment for children.
This is a measure to strengthen the responsibility to protect children's rights during work processes and to create a child-friendly environment.
The 'Child Protection Code of Conduct' contains behavioral standards for respecting children's rights and protecting children. It consists of 10 articles including child safety protection, prohibition of child discrimination, prevention and reporting of child abuse, and respect for children's opinions.
At the proclamation ceremony held at 10 a.m. on the 26th in the main conference room, Mayor Noh Hyun-song and senior officials will attend and pledge to fulfill their responsibilities and duties to realize children's rights and commit to implementing the Child Protection Code of Conduct.
Following the proclamation ceremony, the district will receive pledges to implement the code of conduct from all Gangseo-gu public officials by February.
In addition, the code of conduct will be distributed to about 500 child-related facilities in the region, such as childcare centers and schools, to encourage participation and spread efforts to protect children throughout the local community.
Mayor Noh Hyun-song said, "If children cannot increase their life satisfaction, the future of the country is obvious," and added, "Based on the Child Protection Code of Conduct, we will work harder to ensure that children's rights are fully realized and implemented."
Meanwhile, since receiving UNICEF Child-Friendly City certification in December 2017, the district has been promoting various projects aimed at guaranteeing children's rights to survival, protection, development, and participation.
