Apart from government support, 5 million KRW per person, 1 billion KRW to 2,000 people supported
[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Choi Soon-kyung] Jinju City, Gyeongnam Province, announced on the 26th that it will urgently provide living stabilization support funds separately from the government's employment stability support funds to special employment workers (teukso) and freelancers who are struggling due to the novel coronavirus infection (COVID-19) as part of the 4th regional economic revitalization.
The support targets people who are in the blind spot of the employment safety net because they are not enrolled in employment insurance, such as insurance planners, private tutor teachers, after-school instructors, and substitute drivers, and about 2,000 people will receive 500,000 KRW per person.
The eligibility requirements are that as of January 15 this year, the resident registration address is registered in Jinju City, and the citizen has worked as a special employment worker or freelancer for at least one month during the period from July to December last year, with proof of income of 300,000 KRW during that period.
However, those enrolled in employment insurance and those who have received the 3rd small business owner living stabilization support fund from Jinju City are excluded from support.
For rapid execution, among those who received Jinju City's COVID-19 regional employment response special support as special employment workers or freelancers last year, those not enrolled in employment insurance as of January 15 will be reviewed without a separate application and will be promptly paid by the end of January. A notification text message will be sent to the relevant recipients.
For those not eligible for rapid payment, applications and reviews will be accepted from January 29 to February 15, and payments will be completed by the end of February.
For convenience, applications can be submitted by visiting the nearest eup/myeon office or dong administrative welfare center, or online applications can be made using Document24.
The city's 4th regional economic revitalization plan is a customized support measure that also adds support for industries excluded from the support targets to invigorate the overall regional economy.
Mayor Jo Gyu-il said, "Just as our city coped well with the COVID-19 situation last year, this year we will focus all administrative power with a self-reliant attitude to recover the regional economy through preemptive measures considering the COVID-19 trend," adding, "We will vigorously move forward as a safe city and a happy Jinju by promoting a solid Jinju-type quarantine system and economic measures."
