[Asia Economy Reporter Han Jinju] On the 25th, the highest daytime temperature in Seoul reached 13.9°C, setting a record for the highest temperature in late January.
The Korea Meteorological Administration announced that, following the 24th, the highest daytime temperature on the 25th also reached 13.9°C, marking the highest temperature recorded in late January. This is the second highest daily temperature ever recorded in January.
The highest daytime temperatures from January 23 to 25 consecutively broke the record for the highest temperature in late January. On the 23rd, the temperature was 12.2°C, the third highest for late January. For reference, the highest daily temperature in late March in Seoul is 12.4°C, so this temperature exceeded that.

The Korea Meteorological Administration explained, "Following yesterday, today as well, the country except for the east coast and Jeju Island experienced generally clear weather as it was on the edge of a high-pressure system located over the East Sea. Warm and dry air was added by the east wind coming over the Baekdudaegan mountain range from the east, resulting in warm weather in most regions."
On the 26th, the highest daytime temperatures nationwide are expected to drop by about 3 to 4 degrees compared to today but will still be 4 to 8 degrees higher than the average. Due to a low-pressure system passing over the southern sea on the 26th, the country will be mostly cloudy with rain in the Chungcheong region and southern areas. In the Seoul metropolitan area, Gangwon Yeongseo, and northern Chungcheong, raindrops may fall from morning to daytime on the 26th.
From the 28th, it will get cold again. After rain in the central regions, cold air will descend from the northwest, causing temperatures to drop to around minus 10 degrees Celsius. On Friday the 29th, the morning low temperature will fall to minus 12 degrees Celsius, bringing another cold wave. The low temperature on the 30th is forecasted to be minus 10 degrees Celsius.
