[Asia Economy Reporter Lim Juhyung] Yoo Si-min, chairman of the People’s Life Society Roh Moo-hyun Foundation, apologized for his past allegations of the prosecution’s surveillance of the foundation’s bank accounts, stating that "it was not true." Former Supreme Council Member of the United Future Party (predecessor of the People Power Party), Lee Jun-seok, criticized the apology as "nonsense."

On the 25th, Lee appeared on KBS Radio’s "Kim Kyung-rae’s Strongest Current Affairs" and strongly criticized, "(Chairman Yoo’s) apology cannot be highly evaluated because it was originally a delusion."

He continued, "Usually, when raising suspicions, there must be some plausibility to the doubt," adding, "Just waking up and attacking the prosecution by saying, ‘I think my accounts are being tracked,’ and then apologizing a year later by saying, ‘Sorry, it wasn’t true,’ is nonsense."

Lee also compared Yoo’s actions to the so-called "Eavesdropping Device in My Ear" incident that occurred in 1988. At that time, during an MBC News Desk broadcast, a stranger stormed into the studio shouting, "There is an eavesdropping device in my ear." The culprit was reportedly driven by delusions after experiencing eardrum rupture and hearing vibrations.

Lee said, "People with information in the regime told him, ‘There is an eavesdropping device in your ear,’ so he believed it and raised suspicions," and added, "If Chairman Yoo does not want to be criticized for ‘delusions,’ he must reveal where he received the information."

He further claimed, "To launch attacks against the prosecution and to paint a negative image, various disclosures were made," and "Power and those around power collectively lynched Han Dong-hoon personally in an organized manner, and about a year later, when the facts were revealed, he admitted that it was a delusion by issuing a delayed apology."

Meanwhile, on the 22nd, Chairman Yoo apologized through the official website of the Roh Moo-hyun Foundation, saying, "I failed to prove the allegations I raised. I judge that those allegations were not true."

On that day, Yoo said, "I sincerely apologize to all those involved in the prosecution for causing suspicion," and added, "I do not think an apology alone is sufficient, and I will humbly accept any form of responsibility or inquiry going forward."

He continued, "We all must form opinions based on facts in any case," and said, "Raising suspicions without clear factual support distorts the process of public opinion formation."

He emphasized, "I will reflect on all the words and actions I have taken regarding this matter."
