[Asia Economy Reporter Lee Junhyung] As non-face-to-face education became more active due to the impact of the novel coronavirus infection (COVID-19), education companies focusing on online services showed remarkable strength.

Lifelong education specialist company Hunet announced on the 25th that it achieved its highest performance since its founding in terms of the number of learners and sales last year. Hunet's sales last year amounted to 56.4 billion KRW, growing about 24% compared to the previous year. Also, the annual number of learners reached 6.6 million, nearly doubling compared to the previous year.

The demand for live education also showed a remarkable increase. Live education requested by companies was only 2 cases in 2019 but increased to 135 cases last year. In addition, the artificial intelligence (corporate education) solution 'LABS,' which Hunet officially commercialized last year, received great responses from companies. Through these achievements, LABS has currently accumulated learning data from about 3,000 companies and 3 million learners.

Cho Youngtak, CEO of Hunet, said, "The digital transformation in the education sector, which had been progressing over several years, changed rapidly due to COVID-19." He added, "Hunet has invested 45 billion KRW in edutech since 2016 to prepare for digital transformation. Thanks to this, we achieved the best performance even amid the COVID-19 crisis."
