Asiana Urgently Transports 20 Tons of U.S.-Origin Eggs

[Asia Economy Reporter Dongwoo Lee] Asiana Airlines announced on the 25th that it has undertaken the urgent transportation of U.S.-origin eggs.

Asiana Airlines explained that this transportation was carried out in response to the government's urgent request due to the shortage of domestic egg supply caused by the spread of highly pathogenic avian influenza (AI).

On the day, the company transported about 20 tons of U.S.-origin eggs via the Chicago-Incheon route. To maintain the product quality, special cargo transportation methods were applied, including temperature control and the use of special cushioning materials to prevent movement, ensuring freshness during transport.

Asiana Airlines successfully transported COVID-19 vaccines requiring ultra-low temperature, frozen, and refrigerated cold chain logistics at the end of last year, and also possesses differentiated expertise in transporting special cargo such as fresh food, pharmaceuticals, and animals.

Previously, in 2017, when domestic egg supply became insufficient due to avian influenza in Korea, the company transported over 150 tons of imported eggs.

An Asiana Airlines official stated, “In emergency disaster situations, we will strive to overcome crises not only through vaccine transportation but also through multifaceted cooperation with the government, and as a national carrier with extensive experience in transporting various special cargo, we will ensure safe transportation.”
