Korean Air Expands Baggage Loading Notification Service to 15 Routes Korean Air's Baggage Loading Information Service

[Asia Economy Reporter Dongwoo Lee] Korean Air announced that it will expand the ‘Baggage Loading Notification Service’ to 15 routes arriving at Incheon Airport from overseas starting on the 25th.

The ‘Baggage Loading Notification Service’ is a service that notifies customers via smartphone whether their checked baggage has been properly loaded onto the aircraft at the time of boarding.

Korean Air first launched this service on all international flights departing from Incheon Airport on June 1 of last year, and from July, it expanded the service to six routes departing from the Americas, including New York, Dallas, and Vancouver.

The routes to be newly added include four in Europe (Frankfurt, Amsterdam, Paris, Vienna), six in the Americas (Las Vegas, Boston, Seattle, Atlanta, Washington, Honolulu), three in Oceania (Brisbane, Sydney, Auckland), as well as Dubai and Hong Kong, totaling 15 routes.

This service utilizes the ‘Baggage Reconciliation System (BRS)’ which compares and verifies the barcode information of baggage generated during check-in with the scan information at the time of loading onto the aircraft.

The moment the checked baggage is properly loaded onto the aircraft the passenger boards, a notification message is sent to the customer. The message can be checked in the ‘Notification Box’ or ‘Baggage Inquiry’ menu of the Korean Air mobile app ‘Korean Air My’.

For Skypass members, if they agree to push notifications in the ‘Korean Air My’ settings, they can conveniently receive the notification service automatically before boarding without the need to open the app separately to check.

Korean Air stated, "We plan to enable all customers using domestic and international airports served by our flights to use the ‘Baggage Loading Notification Service’ within this year."
