Yangcheon-gu Supports 1,000 Pregnant Women with Eco-Friendly Agricultural Produce Packages

[Asia Economy Reporter Jongil Park] Yangcheon-gu (Mayor Kim Sooyoung) will continue the ‘Eco-friendly Agricultural Products Package Support Project for Pregnant Women’ this year, following last year.

The program targets mothers and pregnant women residing in Yangcheon-gu who gave birth after January 1, 2020, and provides eco-friendly agricultural product packages worth approximately 410,000 KRW over 12 months.

If additional national funding is secured, packages worth about 70,000 KRW will be additionally supported.

The packages consist of organic fruits and livestock products, pesticide-free agricultural products, organic processed foods, and pesticide-free raw material processed foods. There are two types of products: selectable type (where pregnant women add needed items to a virtual shopping cart and order directly) and pre-assembled type (where pregnant women choose from pre-made packages considering price and items).

The eco-friendly agricultural product packages for pregnant women can be ordered from designated online malls, up to 4 times per month, with a minimum purchase of 30,000 KRW and a maximum of 100,000 KRW per order.

By paying 20% of the order amount as a personal contribution, the package can be delivered to the desired location.

To order the eco-friendly agricultural product packages for pregnant women, a prior application process is required.

Pregnant women who wish to apply must register online at the ‘Eco-friendly Agricultural Products Shopping Mall for Pregnant Women’ starting from 10 a.m. on January 25. Offline applications are also possible if online application is difficult.

Applicants who are currently beneficiaries of the Nutrition Plus program are restricted from receiving duplicate support; however, they can apply for this project after the Nutrition Plus support ends to receive the same benefits.

Once selected as a beneficiary, applicants must sign up as members on the designated online mall to purchase packages. This year, the support is limited to the first 1,000 applicants in Yangcheon-gu on a first-come, first-served basis.

Detailed information about the Eco-friendly Agricultural Products Package Support Project for Pregnant Women can be found on the Seoul city and Yangcheon-gu websites, and inquiries can be made through the Yangcheon-gu Health and Hygiene Division and the 120 Dasan Call Center.

Mayor Kim Sooyoung of Yangcheon-gu said, “I am pleased that this year we can provide healthy food to more pregnant women than last year, and I hope this will also help expand the consumption of eco-friendly agricultural products and revitalize the local economy.”
