Dongdaemun-gu Installs 23 'Fine Dust Traffic Lights' as Part of Green New Deal Policy... Displays Good and Very Bad Conditions with Blue and Red Faces... Also Provides Ozone, Cold Index Information
[Asia Economy Reporter Jongil Park] Dongdaemun-gu (Mayor Yu Deok-yeol) has installed 'Fine Dust Traffic Lights (LED displays)' that provide real-time fine dust concentration information at 23 locations including parks, schools, and roadsides as part of the Green New Deal project.
The fine dust traffic lights receive real-time data from the nearest air pollution monitoring network and display it on an LED screen with four facial expression colors: blue (good), green (moderate), yellow (bad), and red (very bad).
Residents can easily check the fine dust status during outdoor activities and respond quickly to high concentrations of fine dust.
Additionally, the fine dust traffic light screens also broadcast ozone index and cold index information.
Yu Deok-yeol, Mayor of Dongdaemun-gu, stated, “The fine dust traffic lights allow residents to easily check air quality status and have received positive responses from the community. We will do our best to manage and operate the fine dust traffic lights to continuously provide accurate information to residents.”
