[Asia Economy Reporter Jong-il Park] Seongbuk-gu (Mayor Lee Seung-ro) and the nonprofit organization Ongat Network (Executive Director Pastor Park Tae-nam) have signed a business agreement to promote donation and sharing based on public-private governance.
Through the agreement held at Seongbuk-gu Office on the 22nd, Seongbuk-gu and Ongat Network will jointly implement the ‘We, Together’ program to improve the residential environment for vulnerable groups such as elderly residents living in Seongbuk-gu.
Ongat Network has been conducting various activities to enhance the welfare of marginalized neighbors. ‘We, Together’ is a donation campaign program planned for domestic and international social welfare and educational projects. On this day, Executive Director Park Tae-nam delivered a fund of 10 million won on behalf of Ongat Network.
Executive Director Park Tae-nam explained, “There are still many low-income elderly people around us who need care but live in poor residential environments,” adding, “This program helps the community, not just the administration, to support their care so they can live in safer and more convenient housing.”
Seongbuk-gu started the nation’s first ‘Elderly Customized Housing Management Service’ project in 2018 and provided over 1,100 services to about 300 elderly households by 2020.
This agreement is a case where the local community deeply empathized with and participated in the necessity and sustainability of the ‘Elderly Customized Housing Management Service’ project.
Through the ‘We, Together’ program, Ongat Network will continuously raise funds, and Hansong CNC, a construction materials specialist company, will donate construction materials.
It is a public-private cooperation system in which Seongbuk-gu systematically provides and manages housing services.
Mayor Lee Seung-ro said, “The elderly customized housing management service, introduced nationwide for the first time in 2018 to prepare for an aging society, is a win-win project for the elderly, local youth, and the community, and has been benchmarked by other regions,” adding, “I sincerely thank Ongat Network for participating to ensure the sustainability of this project.”
On this day, Seongbuk-gu presented a letter of appreciation to Ongat Network in recognition of their contributions to donations and continuous sharing activities for low-income residents in the region.
