[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Park Seon-gang] Gwangju Metropolitan City announced on the 24th that it has completed 15 parking facility projects as part of the resident support projects being promoted under the Hanam 3 District urban development project.
Until last year, the city provided 30.6 billion KRW in city funds to Gwangsan-gu, completing construction and opening 12 off-street parking lots with 193 spaces and one bus parking lot with 11 spaces. Two parking buildings with 315 spaces are scheduled to open in March, which is expected to greatly improve the parking environment.
Resident support projects other than parking facilities are also progressing steadily.
The community center, designed as a two-story building to enhance resident welfare, will include welfare facilities for the elderly and disabled and is scheduled for completion in April. The design of the resident complex facility and the living sports facility is also underway. Once the resident support projects are completed, Hanam 3 District is expected to experience smooth urbanization with improved pleasant residential environments.
Lee Sang-bae, Director of the City Regeneration Bureau, said, “The resident support projects, part of the Hanam 3 District urban development project, involved residents participating in all stages of the project?from planning and design to construction?by forming and operating a resident council early in the project. This has served as an opportunity to increase residents’ satisfaction and pride in their living environment.” He added, “We will continue to strive to advance as a premium city where we dream together.”
