According to the Ministry of Justice on the 23rd, one employee of Dongbu Detention Center, who had been in self-quarantine since the 10th, was additionally confirmed positive on this day.
As a result, as of 5 p.m. on this day, the total number of COVID-19 confirmed cases in correctional facilities nationwide increased by one to 1,262 compared to the previous day. Among the confirmed cases, 1,066 are inmates, 144 are released prisoners, and 52 are employees.
This is the first time in three days since two employees of the Seoul Detention Center were confirmed positive for COVID-19 on the 20th.
Meanwhile, the correctional authorities conducted the 12th full-scale test on employees and inmates of Dongbu Detention Center on this day. The test results are scheduled to be announced on the 24th.
Previously, the 11th full-scale test at Dongbu Detention Center resulted in all negative cases for the first time.
